OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY
OBESITY AND OVERWEIGHT
Globally OBESITY AND OVERWEIGHT have become a menacing HEALTH PROBLEM.
There are various estimates of the problem in various parts of the world, but on a global scale the estimate is about fifty to sixty per cent of the population.
OBESITY and OVERWEIGHT affect our mobility and has potentially dire consequences in respect of our general health. They can lead to discomfort in the early phases and have the potential to cause weight related diseases not to mention the potential to kill their subjects. These observations are common sense.
IF YOU ARE NOT CONVINCED PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR HEALTH AND LONGEVITY CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR.
About one year ago, I consulted my doctor and I was diagnosed as being overweight. I immediately cut down on my calorie intake and increased my physical activity. To date - 9th NOVEMBER 2007, I have lost 10 kilograms (22 pounds) and I feel much better. My mobility and physical endurance has increased significantly. My appearance has improved too.
The calculation to establish overweight or obesity is obtained by applying the BODY MASS INDEX. It works as follows:
Ascertain your weight in kilograms and divide that weight by the square of your height in metres. A result of 25 to 30 is considered to be overweiht and a result of
30 or higher is considered to be obese. If you have a problem walking at a pace that a fit person can maintain you are probably overweight. The obese person has difficulty walking a 100 metres at the same pace as a normal person who has a reasonable distribution of weight in relation to his or her height. The huffers and puffers need to seriously consider a calorie reducing diet and to immediately increase their physical activity to rectify their potentially dangerous situation. OBESITY causes ill health, it is a health hazard and has the potential to shorten your lifespan.
PLEASE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
IF YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR TOMORROW
AND FOLLOW HIS OR HER ADVICE.
GO WELL,
SIDNEY WILLIAMS

HEALTH STRENGTH FITNESS AND A BEAUTIFUL BODY
INFIDELITY AND HEALTH.
Unfaithfulness to a sexual partner, especially a spouse, can cause severe emotional behaviour and consequently stress related illnesses.
The sudden revelation of sexual misbehaviour by a cheating partner, lover and particularly a spouse can be devastating and can result in an anger driven assault or even murder. These crimes are referred to as crimes of passion.
This situation can result in the aggrieved partner considering instituting divorce proceedings in the case of married couples. Apart from the psychological factors involved in such a scenario, a divorce could have serious financial consequences. This could induce further stress.
The destructive force of the stress, triggered by divorce relating to a cheater's behaviour, can be devastating to the health of both one or both partners to the infidelity and to their respective partners, spouses or family. The destruction extends to both the physical, mental and financial implications of those involved.
My advice is to stay committed to a faithful relationship with your spouse or lover because the spectre of multiple relationships can result in the transmission of sexually related diseases such as HIV/AIDS, SYPHILLIS, GONORRHOEA AND A HOST OF OTHER SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES. Some sexually transmissible diseases are life threatening. HIV/AIDS is one of the most prolific killers of all sexually transmitted diseases.
EXHAUSTION OF SCARCE MINERAL RESOURCES.
Some countries are mineral rich at the moment, but they have limited agricultural capacity, others have limited mineral resources but good agricultural capacity. Currently there is a equitable trade balance to ensure distribution of these commodities in most countries.
The following scenario is however a probability:
Country A is rich in oil, coal, or other minerals, but has limited agricultural potential. Under our present scenario there is no problem, said commodities can be traded for agricultural products, but assume that the countries rich in mineral resources but no agricultural potential exhaust their limited mineral resources, they will not have a tradeable commodity. They will face hunger and extreme poverty as a consequence because mineral deposits are exhaustible. Some of these deposits such as oil and coal may become exhausted in the lifetime of individuals now in their early forties or thirties.
The food producing countries can switch to other energy producing resources such as wind power, sun power, nuclear power, bio fuel and electrically driven cars and machinery.
Governments in the mineral rich countries must deal with this probability as soon as possible to avert a disaster in the not too distant future. Food and shelter are essential to life, minerals such as oil and coal are not.
Take care be prepared.

EFFECTS OF CRIME AND POLITICS ON HEALTH
HEALTH AND POLITICS
It is the duty of governments to identify probable negative future influences and take timely remedial action to prevent disasters.
I am concerned about the future of humanity worldwide. In particular I am concerned about people who live in countries that rely solely or mainly on income derived from mining minerals such as precious metals, ie: gold and silver, inorganic matter such as iron, copper, and organic matter such as oil and coal. Such matter is finite. When the supply ceases to exist then these economies will cease to function in a manner that is adequate to provide the necessities of life to its peoples.
HEALTH AND CRIME
There are various causes of crime. The most common causes are:
1. PASSION which include crimes such as assault and murder.
2. NEED which include crimes such as theft, fraud, robbery, housebreaking and theft and corruption. The poor and destitute are vulnerable to the commission of crimes of need to exist. The other alternative is to approach charitable organisations or beg.
3. GREED. The crimes of greed are committed mainly by the employed who receive adequate remuneration but their greed is the driving force that tempts them to acquire additional wealth unlawfully.
COMMENT: 1. All forms of crime have a devastating effect on the physical and mental health of the victims of crime. Governments should vigorously address these issues.
2. A large proportion of taxes that governments collect from their taxpayers should be spent on providing adequate protection from criminal activity. Governments should employ people with the necessary level of education and skills in all their departments. They should insist on service excellance by their employees. Merit Selection will produce quality service by their employees.

HEALTH AND OUR ENVIRONMENT
Some of the factors that affect our environment are:
1. Global warming which is aggravated by the emission of greenhouse gases such as:
a. Methane gas and Carbon Dioxide. Methane gas is produced by decaying biological products such as plants, animals and other living creatures. It is also produced by the digestion process in living creatures.
b. Carbon Dioxide gas is produced by the burning of fuel and the digestion of food by living creatures. Carbon Dioxide is absorbed by plants. If the production of Carbon Dioxide was commensurate with the absorption by plants there would be a natural equilibrium. The burning of plants however upsets the natural balance between the production of carbon dioxide and the absorption by plants. The imbalance if pronounced is a cause of global warming. Global warming can alter the dynamics of our earth and cause vast and erratic changes in weather patterns. These altered weather patterns can negatively influence the existence of certain species. Our ability to adapt to the predicted weather changes will become challenging to say the least.
2. OVER POPULATION OF THE EARTH.
The production capacity of the earth is limited. Ask a farmer and he will tell you that a given piece of land under good productive conditions will produce x amount of a given product be it vegetable or animal. On the other hand the population of our planet is such that the present production capacity will not suffice to adequately feed all the people and animals of our planet. The availability of jobs is also insufficient to cope with the population explosion. The result is an inequitable increase in poverty not to mention the deaths due to disease and starvation we witness in parts of our world. Governments should encourage people to only have as many children as they can afford. They can give tax benefits to those who follow this advice. If this advice was followed by families they would be alleviating poverty. Some people do not earn enough to adequately house, feed, clothe and educate themselves or their children. This results in stress in the family and problems for government because government is expected to provide sustenance for those who cannot financially afford it. The tax payer who provides government with the funds to run the country is dissatisfied with this situation and rightly so. This situation can have dire consequences. Simply put we cannot allow the world population to explode, the consequences will be dire.

HEALTH STRENGTH FITNESS AND A BEAUTIFUL BODY
My name is Sidney Williams. I am retired South African Police Colonel
I am Eighty One years of age. I have been training with weights for 64 years. I consider myself one of the strongest people in the world. I can do a dead lift of 150 kilograms or 330 pounds. I will in due course attach my photo to my blog.
In the mean time I want to challenge any person who is eighty years or older to better my dead lift of 150 kilograms. Strength is measured by dividing the weight lifted by one's own bodyweight. This is the equaliser. Example: If the weight you lift is 150 kilograms and your bodyweight is 100 kilograms then you divide 150 by 100 and your power to weight ratio is 1.5 or one and a half times your bodyweight. If anyone wishes to take up my challenge please post your challenge to my blog.
The object of this challenge is to establish how many other people enjoy health and strength at an advanced age. We can share our experience and health hints with others and thus act as role models who wish to inspire and motivate others to follow our example. We can also approach the management of Guiness Book of World Records and request them to arrange a contest to ascertain who is the worlds strongest person in the age group eighty years and older.
The basic requirements of a Healthy Lifestyle are:
1. Proper Nutrition. We need protiens to build our bodies. Carbohydrates to provide us with energy. Micronutrients to build and maintain our immune systems. These micronutrients are the requisite vitamins and minerals.
Food from the following groups must be part of our daily intake:
Vegetables, Fruit, Meat, Dairy, Fish, Eggs, Grains, Nuts.
2. Exercise. We need to walk instead of riding where possible. We need to take part in activities such as our preference in sport. Physical Activity is vital.
3. Water. We need to drink sufficient pure water according to our needs. Our needs are dictated by the following: Ambient Tempreture, Physical Activity.
Body Mass.
4. We need adequate quality sleep. About seven to 10 hours according to our age and needs.
5. Suitable rest and relaxation is also important.
6. We must be aware that there are many transmissible diseases out there. We must take appropriate action to avoid acquiring these diseases. Prevention is better than cure.
7. Adopt and adhere to healthy habits. Ecessive Alcoholic drinks, tobacco, and other substances containing illicit drugs are not conducive to a Healthy Lifestyle.
8. Mental stimulation is imperative. Read, learn and thus acquire knowledge, and exercise your brain in the process.
I will in due course make relevant posting about Health, Strength, Fitness and the acquirement of a Beautiful Body. I contend that if I can maintain strength into advanced age then anyone with the will and perseverance can. God bless you.
