HEALTH STRENGTH FITNESS AND A BEAUTIFUL BODY

My name is Sidney Williams. I am retired South African Police Colonel
I am Eighty One years of age. I have been training with weights for 64 years. I consider myself one of the strongest people in the world. I can do a dead lift of 150 kilograms or 330 pounds. I will in due course attach my photo to my blog.

In the mean time I want to challenge any person who is eighty years or older to better my dead lift of 150 kilograms. Strength is measured by dividing the weight lifted by one's own bodyweight. This is the equaliser. Example: If the weight you lift is 150 kilograms and your bodyweight is 100 kilograms then you divide 150 by 100 and your power to weight ratio is 1.5 or one and a half times your bodyweight. If anyone wishes to take up my challenge please post your challenge to my blog.

The object of this challenge is to establish how many other people enjoy health and strength at an advanced age. We can share our experience and health hints with others and thus act as role models who wish to inspire and motivate others to follow our example. We can also approach the management of Guiness Book of World Records and request them to arrange a contest to ascertain who is the worlds strongest person in the age group eighty years and older.

The basic requirements of a Healthy Lifestyle are:
1. Proper Nutrition. We need protiens to build our bodies. Carbohydrates to provide us with energy. Micronutrients to build and maintain our immune systems. These micronutrients are the requisite vitamins and minerals.
Food from the following groups must be part of our daily intake:
Vegetables, Fruit, Meat, Dairy, Fish, Eggs, Grains, Nuts.
2. Exercise. We need to walk instead of riding where possible. We need to take part in activities such as our preference in sport. Physical Activity is vital.
3. Water. We need to drink sufficient pure water according to our needs. Our needs are dictated by the following: Ambient Tempreture, Physical Activity.
Body Mass.
4. We need adequate quality sleep. About seven to 10 hours according to our age and needs.
5. Suitable rest and relaxation is also important.
6. We must be aware that there are many transmissible diseases out there. We must take appropriate action to avoid acquiring these diseases. Prevention is better than cure.
7. Adopt and adhere to healthy habits. Ecessive Alcoholic drinks, tobacco, and other substances containing illicit drugs are not conducive to a Healthy Lifestyle.
8. Mental stimulation is imperative. Read, learn and thus acquire knowledge, and exercise your brain in the process.
I will in due course make relevant posting about Health, Strength, Fitness and the acquirement of a Beautiful Body. I contend that if I can maintain strength into advanced age then anyone with the will and perseverance can. God bless you.
